General Tips

·        If possible, avoid shooting the animal in the head or neck

·        Do not drag animal

·        Do not cut animal’s throat

·        Do not hang animal around the neck

·        Allow animal to Cool as soon as possible

·        Avoid exposure to direct sunlight

·        Avoid excessive heat (car hoods, lights)

·        Avoid moisture  - In rain or wet conditions a tarp is useful in allowing

 air circulation and protecting from moisture

·        If unable to get to Campbell’s Taxidermy right away - Skin and/or Freeze as soon as possible – Refrigeration may be acceptable for a short time – please call if you have a question

·        If unable to freeze or refrigerate, salt as soon as possible after skinning.

·        Do not place in plastic until completely cool, and then use plastic only when freezing -  Storage in a burlap or canvas type of bag is recommended unless freezing the animal or hide (warm animals placed in a plastic bag will cause moisture condensation)

·        Some animals may have hair that is very absorbent and blood will create difficult stains - Refer to the individual category for your desired trophy to find out if stains are a concern
