Big Sky LEAD: Leadership, Engagement, and Development

Due to recent funding cuts, this program will be postponed until further notice. We understand the impact this decision may have and are actively seeking alternative solutions to resume our services. We appreciate your understanding and support during this challenging time and we will share updates on any developments.
The Big Sky LEADers are 15 exceptional high school students from all across Montana, chosen through a competitive selection process to participate in this year-long leadership program. These civic influencers are on a mission to hone their leadership skills, expand their knowledge, and craft strategies for making a positive impact in our communities.
By engaging with experts and delving into pressing local, state, and national issues, participants explore their individual and collective responsibilities as citizens and leaders. They identify best practices in civic engagement and learn how to build alliances and action plans to shape a brighter future.
We've brought together a group of students from diverse communities - small and large, rural and urban, on and off reservations - all united by a shared passion for creating positive change. In this program, they:
- Learned from Leaders: Met face-to-face with government officials, nonprofit professionals, and advocacy organizations from across the political spectrum.
- Saw Democracy in Action: They joined peers watching the government firsthand.
- Developed Leadership Skills: Participation in workshops focused on how to lead with integrity, unite people for a cause, and build relationships that cross differences.
- Built Meaningful Relationships: Formed connections with peers and leaders that last a lifetime.
